Subway Album Review #2 Antarctigo Vespucci

A photo of a sheep who doesn't have anything to do with the article

The following is based on a true story: while surfing the information superhighway, I wiped out on a list of the best new bands of 2015. Something slipped loose in my noggin, and I decided to listen to all these bands I am not cool enough to have ever heard of and write my thoughts on their latest albums.

#2 Antarctigo Vespucci - Leavin’ La Vida Loca

What a weird album. After 30 seconds, there’s a high possibility this will be the kind whiny bleh that causes a tightening of the scrotum when other people recommend it, because I will have to spare their feelings by not telling them how awful it is. Then suddenly, the real album kicks in and it’s actually pretty dope. But something is not quite right…

Let’s see… Instrumental skill? Check. Production? Solid. Songwriting? Aha! Almost every song seems to underscore the fact that the vocals and lyrics seem predestined for sitcom intro themes. For shows with at least one talking animal and/or wisecracking baby. Shows in which character is synonymous with stereotype. Shows with neighbors who don’t understand what knocking is. Shows that will be inexplicably popular and spawn a host of catchphrases people will parrot with lower-than-lottery chances of ever being mildly amusing. Yeah, this album is ok, but I don’t think I will listen to that often on purpose because it brings out my inner hater.

TL;DR
