Ben's SARS - PWR BTTM
The following is based on a true story: sometimes I dream about rockin out which is rad because then my dreams can literally come true whenever I want.
Subway Album Review: PWR BTTM - Ugly Cherries
PWR BTTM is a rad rock duo. Their energy is contagious! While they play lots of PWR CHRDS, they do it with so much gusto you have to pump your fist and say HELL YUSSSSS! And they also give into some of their most fun musical inclinations, like periodic shredding or adding a weird delayed demon voice panned all the way to the left in the song "Dairy Queen." It made me question my sanity. I seriously stared at a dude in the subway, wondering if he was secretly Andrey Arschavin in a red-haired prince valiant wig. AND THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING AT ALL, but DEMON VOICE MADE ME DO IT!!!
I am not sure why, but I get the same kind of enjoyment out of this album as some of the rock-pop of my teenage years. There's the huge fuzz you might hear in The Presidents of the USA paired with the unapologetic earnestness that made Weezer's blue album so rad. And the two members of this band are so stoked about it themselves that you cannot help but rock right along!
TL;DR PWR BTTM is dope!
